The silver nickel-plated coating uses nickel to refine steel, providing corrosion resistance, enhanced hardness, and effective rust protection. For maintenance, KMC recommends caring for the waxed chain after 250 km or once a month for road bikes, and after 100 km for MTB, cross, and frequent riders in all weather conditions. When rewaxing, ensure the chain is dry, shake the bottle, and apply to the inside of the chain. Do not wipe off excess wax and allow it to dry completely before riding.
